Samuel Bradford: Our Fairfield By-Election Candidate

Samuel Bradford is standing as our Green Party Candidate in the upcoming Fairfield by-election in Stockton-on-Tees. This has been called in part because of the resignation of two Conservative Councillors following harmful and offensive comments made towards Muslims online.

The by-election is due to take place on the 19th of September 2024, and is an opportunity for residents living in Fairfield Ward to re-select councillors who represent their values. As a local party, we condemn the comments made and wish to actively campaign against the discrimination and inequality still evident in many areas of society.

Samuel both lives and works in Stockton where he understands local issues well. He is a shift supervisor in a supermarket and as a young person hopes to be able to engage with an important demographic that is often overlooked in politics. Samuel is passionate about both workers and renters rights. Samuel studied history and politics at university and joined the Green Party with the hopes of creating a greener and fairer future. He says “I have been disappointed in the level of political discourse recently. If elected I would set out to listen to people and set out a positive united future for Fairfield and Stockton on the whole”.

His valuable political experience includes standing in Stockton North as part of our 2024 General Election campaign. Samuel used his platform to importantly raise the profile of many issues that affect everyone including marginalised and under-represented communities. He highlighted Green Party policies including a fairer deal for renters, protecting nature, and ensuring safe routes for refugees. We recently had 4 new Green MPs elected, and the Green Party is gaining momentum throughout the North East where we now have 19 councillors. Samuel says “if elected to represent Fairfield, I will use my experience and insights into community interests to address local challenges as they arise”.

There are two vacancies in Fairfield, and therefore you will have two votes in this election. You can find your polling station at: https://wheredoivote.co.uk.
